What do you need to enter Italy?

Italian authorities confirmed all COVID-related entry restrictions have been dropped from the 1st June 2022. Italy does not require any proof of vaccination, a negative test result, or a COVID-19 recovery certificate to enter the country, regardless of your vaccination status.

  • Land borders are open. You should check the travel advice for any countries you plan to travel through ahead of your journey and should ensure that you have the necessary tests for each country you transit

  • Have adequate Travel Insurance and we recommend that printed copies of all appropriate documents are taken on holiday with you. Until the 30th September 2022, FFP2 masks or higher grade must be worn to travel on flights (or any other transport) to or in Italy. You should take spare masks for long journeys

  • Please refer to the FCDO for further information on domestic measures â€‹â€‹

  • If you are planning to travel, you must follow the Schengen area passport requirements. Your passport must be:

    • Issued less than 10 years before the date you enter the country (check the ‘date of issue’)

    • valid for at least 3 months after the day you plan to leave (check the ‘expiry date’)

  • You must check your passport meets these requirements before you travel. If your passport was issued before 1 October 2018, extra months may have been added to its expiry date

  • Contact the embassy of the country you are visiting if you think that your passport does not meet both these requirements. Renew your passport if you need to
